Our Story
The story of Avanti Insurance Agency began in 2013, when Agency Principal Matthew Cobb started his career as an Auto Claims Adjuster with Farmers Insurance. During that time, he saw firsthand the confusion and frustration many policyholders experienced when they did not fully understand their insurance coverage or policy language. Matthew quickly discovered an ability to break down complex insurance concepts and explain them in a way that was simple, relatable, and easy to understand.
After gaining valuable experience in leadership roles with Foremost Insurance and UnitedHealthcare — including Territory Manager, Inside Sales Manager, and Market Manager positions — Matthew founded Avanti Insurance Agency in June 2023.The agency was built around a simple purpose and “why”: to help people. Not just by selling insurance, but by educating clients, providing guidance, and building lasting relationships based on trust, service, and honest conversations. The vision was to create an independent insurance agency where individuals, families, and business owners could feel informed, supported, and confident in their decisions.
For the first 10 months, the agency focused primarily on Medicare and Individual & Family Health Insurance plans. Avanti Insurance Agency later joined the West Michigan Agency Network (WMAN), the local brand of Strategic Independent Agents Alliance, allowing the agency to expand into Property & Casualty insurance products. Shortly afterward, Matthew acquired Zeal Insurance Agency, which became part of Avanti Insurance Agency.
Since then, the agency has grown from one person to a team of seven agents who share the same mission: to provide a better insurance experience through personalized solutions, education, honest conversations, and helping clients move forward with confidence.
